Jai Fears is the ultimate performer. Just this past fall at Ford’s Arts Beats and Eats festival, Michigan’s most anticipated festival of the year, she went from performing in front of 20 people to a standing ovation and standing room only massive crowd by the end of her 60 min set that turned into 75 mins from a encore. Jai was also the only artist to receive an encore out of the hundreds of bands that performed. Jai also performed last year to a sold out crowd for a Michael Jackson tribute at Detroit’s Chene Park Amphitheatre(6,000 seats) where she introduced performing what is now known as her signature encore closing cover song by Michael, “Workin’ Day and Night”. From her and her mother being homeless her senior year of high school to one day waking up to a unknown skin disease that consumed 90% of her body, Jai Fears is going strong as if nothing ever happened and will continue to go hard until her name is headlined on the marquee.
To date, Jai Fears can be seen all over the entertainment spectrum from her many talents alongside singing which include dancing, acting, and modeling. Other credits include dancing for the legendary Aretha Franklin, Charlie Wilson, and N’SYNC, or branding national print ads for Nike, and Degree deodorant, as well as on screen in feature films “The Wood”, “MVP” or the recently released on DVD, “Crossover” as she portrays the subtle but explosive role of “Eboni”, co-starring with Eva Pigford and Wayne Brady. Now almost completely focusing on her music, Jai has already opened up for the legendary Charlie Wilson of The Gap Band twice, Melissa Morgan, and has performed for standing room only crowds at Detroit’s own Hard Rock Café, as well as annual music festivals like the Ribs-n-Soul festival and Detroit’s SummerJamz hosted by Radio One’s Hot 102.7. Each year Ms Fears proves how determined and how much of a hard worker she is. In 2010 her song “Mickeyish” was featured on Detroit’s Channel 955 hit radio station, she received rave reviews for her performances at the Ann Arbor Summer Art Fair, Detroit’s Peoples Arts Festival, and newly to Royal Oak Ford’s Art’s Beats and Eats. But never seeming to venture too far off from her acting talents, Jai will be featured in 2 films due out sometime in the fall of 2010 to early 2011, The Oogieloves Big Balloon adventure and Street Kings 2 Motor City. Jai’s EP “Dayzed and Konfused” is set to be released in the late spring early summer of 2011 which will feature her 2 hit singles “Mickeyish” and “Hush”.
